As a Nigerian Youth, there are beautiful memories we had while growing up, this is what we call "CHILDHOOD MEMORIES". These were times we tend to say we enjoyed the world better. Times when we have less worry and no bills to pay. Times when we can play from morning till night during holidays without being reprimanded. Times when all we have to do is sleep, wake up, go to school, eat and sleep again. Times when we do house chores with so much enthusiasm. Such beautiful times we had!
However, among all these sweet memories, there are some we can never forget, these moments stick to our memory and stays forever. Here are some Top 7 childhood memories an average Nigerian youth still remembers:
1. The Christmas Season: Every child is always excited about the Christmas season. This is a period when as kids, we get new clothes and shoes, eat the best meals and get free gifts. Christmas comes with its own goodies and excitement. Some families even travel to nice places during this season. Many young adults can't forget the Christmas season as children cos of the thrills, freebies and excitement that comes with it.
2. Getting pocket money: We all have that visitor that would come around and make sure he or she drops money for us before leaving. God bless such thoughtful fellows. This pocket money makes us happy even though sometimes our parents might collect it with the usual line "let me keep it for you"(lol).
3. Playing playground games: Sweet games like; Hide and seek, football, who's in the garden, mummy and daddy, Baba suwe, ten-ten, tinko-tinko, bread and butter and many fun games like this can never be forgotten.
4. Singing Hymns: We all have that popular hymn book we used during secondary school days known as the "SOP" (songs of praise). This book contains every beautiful song you can think of. Songs that make assembly time interesting and fun.
5. Birthdays: Childhood birthdays are definitely different from adulthood birthdays. It's always a day to have fun with your friends, a day to blow off candle lights on your cake, to share and receive gifts, to dance and play games. Birthdays scenery is always bright and beautiful. Childhood birthdays can never be forgotten. We had our best birthdays then.
6. Favorite TV shows/ Cartoons: Days of "Ben10", "Spider-Man", "Batman", "Justice League", "Super story", "This life", "Papa Ajasco and company", and many more interesting cartoons and TV shows like this that made our childhood interesting and memorable. Most Nigerian youths can relate?.
7. End of the year party and School excursion: As kids, we always look forward to the school end of the year party because of the choreography, the cultural dance, the debates and also the souvenirs. Great times!. School excursions are the best also, moments when we go to the zoo, to museums, to the beach and many more beautiful places. Such beautiful memories the school excursion gave us.
By now, I'm sure many of us can relate to these memories and they brought smiles to our faces. Every memory we had as children stays with us forever. Sometimes we wish we can go back in time but it's not possible and that's why we cherish these moments. Most of us are lucky enough to have our memories recorded either through pictures or videos. These memories are irreplaceable and they're part of us and part of what builds us as adults. In my own opinion, childhood memories are the dearest to anyone.
